Off-Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell

The assault is a 63-mile, mostly off-road bicycle route with 11,000 ft. of accumulated climbing. The route begins and ends in Old Fort climbing to the Blue Ridge Parkway and on to Mt. Mitchell. Exit 73 off I-40. From the east, turn right; from the west, turn left and head downtown. Make a right on Water Street, just after crossing Mill Creek.
